JOB TITLE: CELL LEADER
DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS
REPORTS TO:MANUFACTURING MANAGER/ OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to plan, direct and control all manufacturing activities within your product cell of DePuy and to ensure approved products are manufactured on schedule within quality standards and cost objectives.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ORGANISATIONAL & PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
Manage, motivate and develop staff in a manner that will facilitate high performance in line with Standards of leadership.
Continually improve and develop communication channels such as:
Daily Production meetings,
Business unit Planning meetings,
Operations Communication Forum,
Monthly area communications, etc.
Demonstrate strong leadership and a clear identifiable work ethos within the Business Cell.
Identify Training Needs of Staff and Opportunities /assignments for Development to maximise their potential.
Act as mentor both on a formal and informal manner.
Ensure adequate tools are in place to effectively manage manpower
Actively participate and assist in selection and recruitment of new employees.
Develop and maintain a team-based approach within the Business Cell.
Complete performance appraisals and mid-year reviews in a timely manner.
Ensure absence, lates and ER issues are managed by staff in a fair and reasonable manner in line with company policies, Credo values and Standards of leadership.
Develop both team and individual goals and objectives and measure actual performance against them, providing timely and honest feedback on performance even in difficult situations.
Develop and maintain a Credo based culture within the Business Cell.
Keep Operations Director and other members of the Management Lead Team informed of ER issues and concerns in a timely manner.
Create opportunities to reward and recognise success of teams and individuals
CUSTOMER / MARKETPLACE FOCUS
Instil and maintain a sense of urgency and customer focus within Business cell.
Prioritise production in line with Customer service requirements.
Work with planning function to eliminate / minimise backorder and safety stock concerns.
Act as voice of the customer.
HSEE
Ensure HSEE policies, procedures and programmes are implemented throughout the Business cell and plant in general.
Chair the Safe workplace / BeSafe meetings.
Actively participate within the Safety Committee.
Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and resultant actions completed in a timely manner.
Assume role of Emergency Response Co-ordinator when required.
Ensure staff is trained in all relevant HSEE procedures and policies.
Champion HSEE within the Business unit.
Ensure all HSEE requirements are fulfilled in accordance with the responsibilities defined in the Company Safety Statement.
Ensure all manufacturing operations within the Business cell conform to world-wide corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements for GMP, HSEE and Quality.
The Cell Leaders are responsible for the implementation and control of the Environmental, Health and Safety procedures within their individual manufacturing operations areas.
They are responsible for the control of the Environmental and Health and Safety aspects/risks associated with the Manufacturing Operations and they are also responsible for identification of the Environmental, Health & Safety aspects/risks associated new product or process introduction.
All employees are responsible for minimising both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.
BUSINESS RESULTS

Implement Company Business Plan Objectives within Business cell.
Strive to consistently exceed Business Cell results.
Reduce cost of manufacture on a year-by-year basis.
Actively encourage, promote and facilitate implementation of innovative solutions to ensure quality while delivering lower costs and shorter lead times
Co-ordinate Production requirements in conjunction with Purchasing/Planning, Engineering and Quality in an efficient and effective manner.
Recommend Capital Investment in Production Equipment as appropriate
Monitor production processes and the effective use of manpower and equipment.
Develop and implement recovery plans when necessary
Co-ordinate Operations Manpower Planning Activity
Efficiently manage variations in manufacturing demands.
Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement.
QUALITY
Ensure responsibilities under the Quality System as defined in the Quality Manual are met.
Promote a quality-focused culture within the Business cell team and ensure cGMP’s are adhered to.
Assume a lead role in conjunction with QA to eliminate repeat close calls and potential recalls.
Establish world-class housekeeping standards within the business cell.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL:
Third level Qualification.
Minimum of 5 years experience with CNC machine in a Senior Production
Management role within a multinational company.
DESIRABLE:
Mechanical Degree / Masters in Business Administration or equivalent
Previous experience within the Healthcare/Medical Devices Sector..
